An iPhone 14 Pro Max falls from a plane, it is found by a pedestrian

The door of the plane would have come off and would have also been found… for sale on eBay.

Last Friday, January 5, the 177 passengers, as well as the crew of flight ASA1282 from Portland (PDX) probably experienced one of the greatest fears of their lives. While a Boeing 737-900 belonging to Alaska Airlines was supposed to take them to Los Angeles Airport (LAX), it had to make an emergency landing in Oregon. Apart from some material damage, there were no casualties.

A porthole explodes, the emergency door tears off, objects fall

While the passengers expected to land safely at the Los Angeles terminal (LAX), a window and part of the fuselage broke. This would have caused one of the emergency doors to detach, which itself created a draft which sucked objects outwards.

Pedestrian finds iPhone 14 Pro Max belonging to passenger

Sean Bates tells [ X ] that he was walking along  Barnes Road  when he found the phone. At first glance it appeared to be just another lost phone, but there was no indication that it had fallen from a plane. The iPhone 14 Pro Max was in perfect condition and still turned on , but two clues led him to consider the theory of a fall in mid-flight.

On the one hand, he specifies that the phone "  was still in airplane mode  ", and on the other hand, a page for "  baggage claim for [flight] #AlaskaAirlines ASA1282  " was open. He also adds that the phone had neither FaceID nor an access code. He subsequently contacted the National Transportation Safety Board ( NTSB ), which is responsible for investigating incidents of this type.

Sean learns from them that it is indeed a phone that fell from the plane, and that it is als

A man responded to Sean Bates' post on [ X ], with the words "  The door has been found  ", along with a photo. The latter shows an eBay ad selling a Boeing 737 emergency door in Oregon, the location where the incident occurred. We can also read in the description of the ad that the door is "in used condition, with a few tears", "  fell on the ground  " and that "  it's not serious  ". This is of course a joke.
